Earthquake – The Media Helps

18th October 2005 – London, UK

The media has played a major role in helping to keep us up to date with the latest in Pakistan, following the devastation caused by the 8th October earthquake. They have also been instrumental in raising awareness and help needed to asist those still living in the worst hit areas.

Last Saturday 15th October, BBC London’s “Inside Out” was present in Southall, London filming an appeal on behalf of the local Pakistani community. HELP A POOR CHILD was one of a number of charities and church groups who came together to make their appeal through the media.

The Inside Out programme, presented by Sumit Bose, was broadcast on Monday 17th October, where they also looked at British families with no news about loved ones caught up in the South Asia earthquake.

Other international TV stations were also present to assist with the appeal. They included PTV Prime, Sony Entertainment, ARY Digital and GEO TV with broadcasts to follow this week.

Dalawar Choudhry and his family of TKC hosted the evening, at his fine restaurant, which saw £7,000 donated towards the appeal.
