Marathon man

30th April 1994

For a first event of its kind, outside the annual London event, the funds raised were beyond expectations and demonstrates the solidarity, which exists amongst the community, especially following the devastation caused by the earthquake.  These funds will all go directly to children who have suffered and are still suffering because of the natural catastrophes that have plagued the sub-continent.  It is planned to ensure that the distribution takes place within a matter of weeks

HAPC Opens Third New Branch

30th April 1994

HAPC (Madras) the third branch of the Head Quarters HAPC (UK) was officially inaugurated on 24th April 1994 at the White Memorial Hall. HAPC (UK) Trustee and Social Secretary Mr. George Hillier lit the traditional lamp followed by the President Rev. Prince Chellappa and the Secretary Professor Geoffrey Francis, signifying the birth of a new Social Organisation in the city of Madras.

HAPC (Goa) in the News

16th December 1993

The fate of unfortunate families the world over keeps worsening year by year, as the international economic conditions deteriorate with resultant rise in prices and the lowering of living standards. It is a matter of grave concern that these are the families with the largest number of children and it is the children who suffer the most. Being brought up in unhealthy conditions, with lack of basic amenities these children form the highest percentage of school drop-outs and they face a clouded future.

A Prize Of A Lifetime

15th November 1993

As a winner of the 1st Prize in the H.A.P.C. Grand Lottery Draw I have nowords that could describe my extreme shock and joy to have been the lucky one picked out of 100’s of entries at the H.A.P.C. Charity Gala as the No 1 Prize winner – it was a God send!!.  I recall the evening that Mr Pereira informed me of this news, there was pandemonium in my house!.  We had to find the other half of the ticket and my entire wardrobe was on my bed whilst the children hunted through my pockets and handbags until they found the tickets!!.  And then of course none of us slept all through the night, it was all too much to take in!!.

A night to remember again at Ally Pally – but with a difference. The gigantic hall was a picture in balloonology. Besides the tables having their own decorations, thecomplete dance floor was canopied over and a great arch formed behind the stage – all arranged by Balloonland.
