Half-term Colombiere School update

The first quarter of any new academic year is very busy, with entry tests, enrolments and government regulations to follow.

In The Gambia, it’s common practice, at the beginning of each school academic year, to follow what is commonly known as the “stabilisation period” from September, to end of November.

During this period schools receive into the school pupils from other schools and transfer their own out of the school.  Occasionally, the movement of teachers are also are put in place by the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education.  Teaching and learning begins in September.

During a very busy period for the school, teaching and learning continues from September through to December

It is during this epoch that school status data is collected by the ministry, which contributes to a very busy period, particularly for the school administrators.  There are lots of meetings to be attended and visits to school.  Even children are engaged in cleaning the school environment so it is never a slack period.
